Some Things Never Change Until We Do

I had several articles in my mind this morning that must be written. I arose early with good intentions which should have been perfect! Since I live with three night-owls, morning is the only time (especially on the weekend) when I can avoid interruption. Unfortunately, that was four hours ago and all I have to show for them is this. (I’ll probably delete it before you see it since I’ve learned to trash my first and last paragraphs as part of my writing process. Irony.) I also don’t set personal deadlines because my topic, abortion, is based on death AND lines of women who casually conclude it’s the best solution for their personal situation. I hope that will be motivational enough, but it seldom is.

I remember when the slang, “It’s personal.” began to be the catch-all response replacing accountability. Now, we live by the eleventh rule, “Don’t ask, don’t tell.” We refer to Urban instead of Webster because definitions are selective based on my personal mood or situation. Oh, yeah, this whole thing apparently began with situational ethics. I was surprised that the Urban Dictionary used an ethical situation that could be misunderstood outside of context. I personally think that they missed the point. In my experience, ethics is the least of my worries when I don’t want to. That’s when it gets personal!

I recently watched W.W.J.D., an inspiring film that Anonymous described,

“A moving and thought provoking story about a group of Americans – a singer, a newspaper editor, a pastor & a real estate mogul who vow to walk “in the steps of Jesus.” Every day and every decision become a turning point in their lives as they must ask themselves…”What Would Jesus Do?”

Let’s begin by defining Ethic(s). First Webster:

  2. (used with a plural verb) the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc.: medical ethics; Christian ethics.
  3. (used with a plural verb) moral principles, as of an individual: His ethics forbade betrayal of a confidence.
  4. (used with a singular verb) that branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions.

Morality with loopholes. Everyone agreed that the Congressman’s conduct was morally repugnant and his excuses were intellectually dishonest, but the facts did not support an ethics violation.

I remember when loopholes used to be for utilizing a belt to keep your pants up! It seems that they do that less and less these days. I apologize. Sarcasm is my coping mechanism. Let’s take a few minutes to look at some recent truth and consequences based on current American morality. First, I’ll list the cases in a table so you will see the ambiguity that has appalled me. I’ll add further details and links to the actual items, also. You can’t make this stuff up!

Antonia Lopez, 16, of Omaha, did not receive a prison sentence after she admitted to the act and her case was moved to juvenile court. Her probation sentence includes living in a group home, attending therapy, deactivating her Facebook account and completing 50 hours of community service, according to the report.

Since I regularly participate in 40 Days for Life, I am no stranger to a sidewalk outside an abortion clinic. This is the mission of 40 Days for Life:

In my blog, I regularly re-post from sites including LifeNewsLife SiteOperation Rescue, etc. in hopes of educating and provoking others, especially Christians, to join me by becoming a voice for the voiceless. In fact, I recently posted videos from End Abortion Now which I’m very excited about because they are equipping churches to educate and involve members in the pro-life movement!

I have obviously been discouraged by the ambiguity of conscience and, as one friend posted, confusion about the apparent existence of left and right with right and wrong. Frankly, I don’t care whether we agree politically or not as long as we can agree with science and logic: life begins at conception! And since our American forefathers declared our independence, we must defend it or lose it!

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. ——

This week, I have been encouraged by the confirmation of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch. It is our hope that Judge Gorsuch will help to return our nation to our roots as a Christian nation and to eventually overturn legalized abortion. See 58,586,256 Abortions in America Since Roe v. Wade in 1973. Thankfully, he acknowledged that Roe V Wade is currently the law of the land, but refused to acknowledge it as “super-precedent“.

 

I invite you to join me as I Stand With David, the citizen journalist mentioned above who is facing 15 felony charges for his undercover research exposing Planned Parenthood for selling baby body parts. Ironically, the District Attorney should be the one facing charges for a complete failure to uphold the law and for obvious prejudice preventing her from overseeing the case. She, in fact, is withholding evidence by refusing to allow the videos to be released to law enforcement!

Today, Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson (pictured) defended her indictment of pro-life advocate David Daleiden despite the fact that a Planned Parenthood abortion business board members works as a prosecutor in her office. Now, new information has come to light that Anderson’s campaign received more than $25,000 from the attorney who works for a late-term abortionist.

I urge you to stand for life on the sidewalk, in social media, and via voting for laws that agree with science, sanity, and return us to our roots. I pray for repentance and revival in America. I warn that if we don’t stand for life, today, we may soon be the one who is thrown out the window to our death and the person who kills us may receive less than a slap on the wrist or probation.
