Amber’s Experience with Eugenics

I was pregnant with my middle son and got a maternal blood diagnosis of a 91% chance for Down Syndrome. I was no longer allowed to deliver at my place of choice but was sent to Dr. Humphrey for a level 2 ultrasound. Though the images never clearly indicated a health problem one way or the other, I was given a “doom and gloom” trajectory from Dr. Humprey. According to her I would have to remain under her care, induce at least one week early, and prepare myself for the possibility of my son being a stillborn. She did not say the word abortion to me directly, as I came in right from the start saying I refused to hear even one mention of the word. However, I learned that she was a eugenist who took the lives of those deemed “medically necessary”. She never saw the humanity and value of my child: she merely saw him as a medical condition. I immediately left her care and found a Christian doctor who told me he was well aware of Dr. Humphrey and “her ways”.

8 months ago I delivered my youngest son at home, with no outside intervention. We learned at birth that he did, in fact, have Down Syndrome, unlike my middle son who had the blood test diagnosis, but proved inaccurate. The peace and joy we had in our home at our son’s birth was wonderful, especially because we did not opt for any blood testing or invasive ultrasounds. There was no “doom and gloom” from the so-called specialists like Dr. Humphrey, and I was free to birth wherever and however I chose. Both of our boys are a gift to us. I’m so glad I trusted the Lord with my children rather than doctors like her.

Dr. Humphrey is very outspoken about how laws restricting abortion access could put her job in jeopardy, and that she doesn’t want to go to jail for doing her job. She signed for Amendment 4, (The Florida Abortion Amendment) to be put on the ballot. If it passes, she will “legally” be able to perform abortions up until the moment of birth for any reason.

Advent Health claims to be a Seventh-Day Adventist hospital with practices aligning with the values of Christ, but they have abortionists and eugenists on staff who would seek the death of innocent babies deemed “imperfect ” by society. My 8-month old would fit their mold of a child that should not be allowed a chance at life. How wicked of a thought!

How many women have been sent to Dr. Humphrey and given the same fearful predictions, but faltered on their convictions, choosing death for their little one instead? I grieve to even considered it, but it has happened countless times. Christians, we must trust the Lord with our families. We must also take a stand against the evils of our day. Abortion is wrong, every single time. All human life has value, and each one of us was knit together by God in our mother’s womb, and made in His image.

Vote No on #4

  • What is Amendment 4? Amendment 4 is a proposed Amendment to our Florida Constitution that would enshrine abortion as a constitutional right. The proposed language of Amendment 4 is vague and misleading, and could be construed to allow abortion up to birth, for any reason or no reason:
  • broken imageHowever, the terms “viability,” “health,” and “healthcare provider” are not defined and could be interpreted in many different ways.
  • “Viability” typically means the point at which a child is developed enough to survive outside the womb – usually 22-24 weeks gestational age, although at least one infant has survived at 21 weeks. The age of viability can be expected to continually decrease as our medical technology increases. However, some more radical abortion advocates (like the ones sponsoring this Amendment) believe in abortion up to birth and could interpret it that way. The more pro-abortion the “healthcare provider,” the later he or she would consider “viability.” The state legislature would not be able to define viability.
  • “Health” has been interpreted in previous abortion laws as a condition that threatens the life of the mother or poses a very serious and irreversible effect on the mother’s health. However, the meaning here is exceedingly vague and could mean anything from a woman’s emotional health or even her financial “health.” That basically opens the door for any woman to claim any condition — mental, physical or fiscal — and have an abortion at any time during her pregnancy. It’s all up to her “healthcare provider.” “Healthcare Provider” has been defined previously in Florida abortion law as a licensed physician. This language could mean anyone in the healthcare field. This opens the door to allow basically anyone in the field of health care (podiatrist? speech therapist?) to administer an abortion. Those are a few of the legal issues caused by this proposed Amendment. However, there is a far more serious moral question raised by the Amendment: If human life begins at fertilization (it does), and if every preborn individual is a human being (he/she is), does that human being not have the same God-given right to life that you and I have? YES!! Every human has a God-given right to life, so Vote NO on 4!

  • It is imperative that you actually VOTE and that you vote NO on 4. The Amendment needs a 60% super-majority to pass. But do not be fooled into thinking that you should skip this question to avoid it passing. Only the YES & NO votes are counted. You MUST vote, and you must vote NO.

An Awareness Campaign to Expose Eugenics in Advent Health

Amber, along with our team, Pro-Life Action Ministries, scheduled an awareness campaign to expose Dr. Humphrey. This task involved creating signs and flyers to hand out in the area of her office building in Orlando. Here is a record and some photos from that event.

Suddenly we live in a day and age where doctors have to worry about what they do because they don’t want to end up in prison” Rachel Humphrey, in response to a potential abortion ban.

Petition for County Resolution

We will be attempting to get these on the books in every county. Can we COUNTY on you???? Please note that completing this form also subscribes you to our email newsletter, which you can opt out of at any time. Submitting this form means you are asking (petitioning) your county commissioners to adopt a resolution.

It went very well and we were able to hand out a lot of material. Several employees of Advent Health came by and took literature, Some even hung around to speak to us for a bit. The police showed up as well as Advent security. The police (at least those who came to see us on our side of the corner) were very kind and said we were doing everything the right way. One officer said because he’s in uniform he cannot voice how he feels but let us know that he agrees with us. We had a few people who said they were for Amendment #4 and did want abortion up to birth.
