Federal judge blocks Texas from enforcing coronavirus-related abortion ban

A federal judge on Monday blocked a Texas policy that temporarily prohibited most abortions as part of the state’s response to the coronavirus outbreak. Responding to a lawsuit by abortion providers, U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel of Austin said the policy – which allowed abortions only if a woman’s life or health were at risk – amounted to a ban on abortion in violation of the U.S.
