No Baby is Unplanned
I’ve watched, waited, and prayed counting in disbelief along with Tony Perkins (Family Research Council) as Democrats stall thirty times a vote to end Birth Day Abortion. I listen in disbelief as Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) rants:
“Infanticide is against the law,” Schumer went on, “and a woman has a right to decide what is her choice with her doctor before that moment before the child is born. So, this is all — again — fear-mongering and falsification of what is happening. Infanticide is already illegal.”
As this mornings post explains:
Turns out, Schumer’s response is only half-true. As Alexandra Desanctis points out in NRO, leaving babies alone to die is legal in almost half of the country. “As of 2016, only 26 states have laws creating a specific affirmative duty for physicians to provide medical care to infants born in botched abortions, and only six states even required that abortion providers report instances of infants born alive under such circumstances.” And even if it were illegal in the other 24, what’s the harm in reaffirming it? There’s no one-vote limit on doing the right thing.
The article reminds us of Melissa Ohden, an abortion survivor, who shared her testimony at the Judiciary Committee hearing on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
“I was blessed to be born alive accidentally at a hospital and to have that nurse willing to rush me off from that room into the NICU, because I do believe if I had been born accidentally at Planned Parenthood or another abortion clinic, they would not have done what they needed to do to get me to a place where medical care would have been provided… I know too much about other people’s experiences to believe to know that children like me aren’t always provided immediate medical care. I think we try to make ourselves feel good [by believing] that a child must be immediately saved by those professionals at clinics, but that is not the case.”
As far as the premise that baby’s already receive necessary care, how can we explain the other alarming headline that I read this morning about a child refused medical care simply because he was born without skin! This child was not an abortion survivor, by the way! It is probable that life support will be removed at any time even though care is available at an “out of network” hospital. “The pro-life group Americans United for Life is working with the family to raise awareness and funds for Ja’bari’s treatment.
I’m watching the clock as I type because I will be joining many of you in a candlelight vigil in front of a Planned Parenthood, today. I actually contacted Larry Richey, Managing Principal at Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., that we would be in front of the building where they are renting space to a Planned Parenthood. I joined my associates in urging him to evict them. “Babies are being killed across the hall from where teeth are being pulled.” In fact, they are being killed with the same impunity as a decayed tooth is removed. It’s just business as usual…
“Unplanned”, the film sharing Abby Johnson’s story is waking America up from our apathy as 60 million babies have been murdered on our watch in the name of choice and either for convenience (they didn’t fit into our plans) or by coercion like this alarming headline, “Man Raped 12-Year-Old 500 Times Resulting in 7 Abortions, Abortion Clinics Never Reported the Crimes“. I have been aware of this scenario of unreported crime in human trafficking. I tell my 40 Days for Life prayer partners to be watching for a signal from anyone at the abortion clinic so that they can call 911 and rescue can ensue.
This morning, I will be praying as I have since I joined the prolife movement in 2008 and started my blog, EmpowerShop ProLife (now Abolitionist Arise). My intention for my blog is too share pro-life headlines and to boycott companies like Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. who directly or indirectly promote abortion. I also have some affiliate links from companies that I don’t find on The Boycott List or that have a low score from 2nd Vote on the abortion issue. (Unfortunately, one of my affiliates, Amazon, has a 1.3 score for the following reasons:
- Amazon contributes to United Way chapters that fund Planned Parenthood, Accessed 11/5/18.
- Amazon contributes to Girls, Inc., which is a pro-abortion organization, Accessed 11/5/18.
- Amazon contributes to the Population Council, which promotes abortion worldwide as a way to reduce poverty in densely populated countries around the world, Accessed 9/5/18.
Does all of this make any difference? I believe that it will because God answers prayer and gives individuals and nations opportunities to repent of sin. It is the basis of the Christian faith on which America was established and to which we pledge allegiance:
“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
I am praying that soon, “All” will include the baby in the womb who is not property to be disposed of but a human being from the moment of conception. I am praying for mothers who are facing crisis pregnancies to realize that the people on the sidewalk pleading for them not to abort their babies are truly offering help and hope. In fact, our team with Prolife Action Ministries provides a long list of resources in our area. I had the privilege of participating in a baby shower for one of the children that was saved, and another one is planned this week!
I’m celebrating the 94 workers who have already left the abortion business for good since “Unplanned” was released! I believe there will be many more! The impact is great!
I was informed of a baby saved just yesterday as I arrived to pray for an hour. While I was there, a mom of three stopped to share that she lived to far away to join us on the sidewalk, but she was praying with us. A mother of six was there with her two youngest in stroller praying. She wanted to know how to become a sidewalk counselor.
I can only rejoice in hope that God is on the move and continue to pray for revival in America.
Remember: no baby is unplanned.
